Rites of Passage

A Transformational Camp Experience for Young Men

About the Program

The Rites of Passage Camp is an immersive, one-day experiential program hosted by Wanderland Society, a Georgia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This camp is thoughtfully designed to support the cultural and social development of young men ages 14–19, offering practical frameworks rooted in nature, community, and positive mentorship.

Our Purpose

As young men transition into adulthood, they benefit greatly from experiences that foster connection, confidence, and self-understanding. The Rites of Passage Camp offers a structured environment where participants can:

  • Build a sense of belonging within a supportive community.

  • Form meaningful peer and mentor relationships focused on wisdom, compassion, and strength.

  • Cultivate a deeper appreciation for nature and outdoor sacred spaces.

  • Explore responsibilities and opportunities that come with growing into adulthood.

What to Expect

The Rites of Passage Camp emphasizes hands-on challenges, personal reflection, teamwork, and life skills in a natural setting.

  • Each participant shares a personal truth they’ve uncovered in life, promoting authenticity and self-awareness.

  • Campers collaborate to navigate a 50-acre uncharted forest, learning to rely on themselves and one another through shared roles and responsibilities.

  • Participants learn to start and maintain a campfire while engaging in reflections on home, protection, and community contribution.

  • Campers are introduced to foundational life skills through:

    • Covering – protecting self

    • Containers – safeguarding resources

    • Cutlery – practical tool knowledge

    • Combustion – growth and innovation

    • Cordage – building relationships and support systems

  • The experience culminates with a symbolic passing of the torch, representing the transfer of wisdom, leadership, and purpose into the world.
