Community Volunteer Fire Cooperative

Strengthening fire preparedness in rural and underserved communities.

Fire doesn’t wait—and neither can we.

The Community Volunteer Fire Cooperative is a membership-powered program from Wanderland Society dedicated to enhancing fire preparedness, safety education, and volunteer support across rural and underserved areas. By organizing people, producing training opportunities, and providing access to essential safety resources, this cooperative helps communities reduce risk and respond more effectively when emergencies strike.

Our Mission

We believe that preparedness is protection and prevention is power. In many rural regions — where response times can be long, department resources are limited, and fire hazards continue to grow — we serve as a coordinating hub that brings people and resources together before a crisis happens.

Whether you’re a resident, landowner, business, or community organization, the Cooperative helps build stronger, safer communities through shared support and readiness.

Step 1

Join or Sponsor
Individuals, landowners, businesses, and supporters contribute monthly or annually to sustain training, education, and safety efforts.

How the Cooperative Works

Step 2

Fund Training + Equipment
Contributions help power volunteer firefighter training opportunities, prevention education, and essential safety equipment for community use.

Step 2

Strengthen Local Readiness
With coordinated drills, shared resources, and collaboration with local departments, we help communities prepare and respond before emergencies occur.

What We Offer

  • We support volunteer fire departments by referring new prospects through our intake portal — helping to address staffing needs and strengthen local responder capacity.

  • Our 72-acre mountain property becomes a dynamic training ground where firefighters and volunteers gather for skill-building retreats, scenario practice, and team development led by experienced instructors and fire leaders.

  • We partner with medical and behavioral health providers to offer wellness screenings, fitness assessments, and peer support programs — all hosted in the calming environment of nature.

  • Through community events, regional summits, and public outreach, we help raise awareness on fire prevention, Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) safety, environmental stewardship, and the value of volunteer service.

  • We respect the autonomy of local volunteer fire departments and work as a non-departmental partner, amplifying capacity without interfering with internal procedures. Departments can access enhanced training, recruitment support, wellness resources, and community engagement collaboration.

A Safer Community Starts With All of Us

The Community Volunteer Fire Cooperative is more than a firefighter support program — it’s a community resilience initiative. By expanding knowledge, participation, and readiness across the Lookout Mountain region (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee), we help families, neighbors, and natural wildlands stay safe.
