Founder Bio

Jonathan L. Weston

Jonathan L. Weston is the founder of Wanderland Campground and The Wanderland Society, and the author of Camping Is for Everyone. His work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: meaningful connection—to nature, to community, and to self—should be accessible to everyone.

What began as a personal commitment to a simpler, more intentional way of life has grown into a mission-driven ecosystem that welcomes people from all backgrounds into the outdoors. Jonathan created Wanderland as a space where authenticity is honored, gratitude is practiced, and inspiration comes naturally from time spent on the land.

Since opening in 2020, Wanderland has hosted thousands of campers—many experiencing camping for the very first time. Through thoughtful design, clear safety standards, and a deeply welcoming environment, Jonathan has helped remove the intimidation often associated with outdoor recreation, allowing guests to leave feeling grounded, empowered, and connected.

Through The Wanderland Society, Jonathan extends this mission beyond the campground, supporting programs focused on outdoor access, conservation, community resilience, and education. The guiding philosophy—“Camping is for everyone. Wanderland is for you.”—reflects his belief that nature belongs to all, and that stewardship begins with inclusion.

Jonathan’s vision continues to shape Wanderland as both a physical place and a broader movement—one that protects natural spaces while cultivating community, responsibility, and belonging for generations to come.
